Our Services for Cats
Consultations - We undertake both first opinion consultations for our cat patients. Our consultations are currently 15 minutes, with additional time when needed. As per RCVS guidance, we require the history from your previous vet if you would like to register with us. We provide pet remedy/feliway sprayed towels for all patients. We have two waiting rooms - one for rabbits/exotics and one for cats - both are quiet and calm with pet remedy and feliway optimal plus diffusers in place.
Vaccinations
- We regularly vaccinate cats against a number of diseases which can make them poorly or become fatal. Read more about vaccines and the diseases we protect against
here.
We routinely provide complimentary blood pressure checks for ALL cats over the age of 7 at their annual vaccination. High blood pressure often is a hidden silent disease despite 1 in 9 cats having high blood pressure over the age of 7. This is why we feel it is so important to check this at every vaccination to allow early detection and prompt investigation of the disease.
Nursing Consultations - Our Nurses are able to perform health checks of your cat, as well as dental checks, blood pressure monitoring, nail clips, and chronic condition monitoring, such as kidney disease or diabetes.
Microchipping - We also know that many owners like the reassurance of their cat being chipped in case they were ever lost. We use MicroID chips which are the smallest microchips on the veterinary market at just 8mm long.
Surgery - We perform all aspects of surgery from neutering to exploratory laprotomy. Patients will have intravenous cannulas placed and receive, where appropriate, fluids and pain relief.
Radiographs - We have excellent digital radiography capable of x-raying a small goldfish to elephants. Our processor is a digital processor, meaning images are almost instantaneously developed, allowing for quicker results and shorter sedation or anaesthetic time.
Dental radiography
- We have invested in the top of the range dental x-ray machine which is routinely use for all cat dentals. We follow veterinary dental specialist guidelines and every cat dental includes xrays. Read more about dental disease and procedures in cats
here.
Ultrasonography - We have a ultrasound unit that we can use to investigate cases such as abdominal issues, chest issues or eye issues.
Electrocardiography (ECG)- We routinely use ECG to monitor our anaesthetics and also our cardiac patients.
Blood samples - We regularly blood sample our patients, whether it is a routine health screening or for illness. Samples may be performed in house or sent away to an external laboratory depending on what we are looking for.
