Cat Care by our dedicated Cat Team
We are an ISFM accredited GOLD cat friendly clinic
We are the only clinic in Wales that provide care exclusively for rabbits, exotics and cats by two dedicated teams. We have a dedicated cat waiting area away from the exotics as well as a consult room specifically for cats, and separate wards for our cat patients away from our rabbits and small mammals.
ISFM Gold status for Cat Care - We are very proud to say we have been award GOLD status for cat care which means ISFM have recognised what we have available for cat care as they highest they will award. We are the only clinic within central Cardiff and the only independent clinic within the area to have been granted this award. We know that what we have available at our clinic will ensure your cat , as well as yourself, will receive the highest standard of care at every step of your cat's care.
Why choose us for your cats care?
Firstly, we believe in fear free approach for all species. Cats are just as delicate as rabbits and other exotics . We firmly believe that we have excellent facilities in order to provide a stress free approach to cats just as much as we do for our exotic patients. We have both Pet Remedy and Feliway Optimum plug-in diffusers to help keep a calming atmosphere. Our quiet dedicated cat waiting space will help keep your cat calm before they enter our spacious consult rooms. They will be able to roam in the consult room and acclimatise with the feliway optimum diffusers and pet remedy sprayed towels. The dedicated cat team are very experienced both in the veterinary profession and as cat owners too. We have minimal 15 minutes consultations so that your cat can settle in whilst a history is taken, with plenty of time for a full examination.
We are an ISFM gold accredited cat clinic. We ensure that each cat that stays with us, no matter how long or short the stay, will always have a hide, bedding, litter tray as well as space to move around and food and water. The kennels are very quiet and also have feliway plug-ins too.
We have in-house blood machines so that we can run pre-anaesthetic bloods or a more comprehensive blood profile including thyroid checks (so important for our older feline friends!). We have doppler blood pressure monitor so that we can check those all important numbers in your delicate feline, especially those that are in their senior years or have kidney / heart concerns. We will be running senior cat clinics too to include full physical exam, weight checks, blood pressure, bloods and k-laser clinics regularly in your cat's twilight years.
We have digital x-ray machines that provides excellent diagnostic images in an extremely fast speed for reduced sedation/anaesthetic times. We also have a mobile ultrasound which means we can easily adapt for your cats needs. We will be able to go though these images with you on the same day, so you are able to have results quickly and provide a plan for your cats care.
At Origin Vets Clinic, we have a special interest in dentistry of all species and we have invested time and finances in to digital dental x-ray specifically for cats that is used by dental specialists throughout the UK. We are therefore able to obtain high-quality full mouth x-rays in just a few minutes compared to older machines. This benefits your cat greatly by reducing anaesthesia time, in addition to guiding us in making accurate decisions about the dental treatment required for your pet. We can go through these on the day with you too so that you can understand the treatment plan.
Our team is very experienced with surgeries and most surgery will be able to occur within our clinic. However, some very complex cases may require referral to a specialist hospital and we will always discuss the best options for you and your loved cat.
Not able to make a face to face appointment ? That is ok, we understand that you may need not be able to do this every time and so we can offer a drop off service where your cat will be examined during the working day and our vet will call you to discuss the case. There is just a small additional day patient fee of £12 for this service along with the normal consultation fee. However if you join our cats health plans, the additional day patient fee is wavered.
We also understand that out of hour emergencies can occur too and we have a dedicated out of hours provider that will be able to care for your cat during these times. If you have a genuine out of hours emergency then please call our line as normal, the the out of hours team will advise you.
If you would like to register for our cat services then please enter your details below. The great news is you do not have to be a pre-existing client to use this service and we welcome new clients to come to us with no registration fee.
